Jerry Courville is playing in his 12th Mid-Amateur…was the Mid-Am champion in 1995 and the runner-up in 1999….earned his fifth trip to the semifinals, which he also reached in 1993 and 1997…qualified for match play in 11 straight Mid-Amateurs (1992-2002) and won a match in 10 of his last 11 appearance…has 33 match play victories (through the semifinals) in the Mid-Am, passing Danny Yates for most in the championship’s history…Courville represented the USA at the 1995 and 1997 Walker Cup as well as the 1996 World Amateur Team championship…his USGA career resume also includes a low amateur medal at the 1995 U.S. Open…he was also a semifinalist at the 1989 Amateur and a quarterfinalist at the 2000 Amateur…he won the qualifying medal at the 1995 Amateur and the 1996 Mid-Amateur…had serious stomach surgery while a student at Maryland…is a graduate of Maryland and works for Pitney Bowes…Metropolitan Golf Association Player of the Year Trophy is named in honor of his deceased father…a three-time Ike winner (1990, 1991, 1997)…Jerry won the first trophy after the naming for his dad….resides with wife Janet and daughter Kellie in Milford, Conn…born Feb. 13, 1959.
